THE PATRIOT SOIL FLAG

From the sacred soil of American history comes a creation unlike any other: The Patriot Soil Flag.

A Flag Unlike Any Other Is Taking Shape

Honoring All Those Who Served

The Patriot Soil Flag will soon carry soil from veterans’ cemeteries across all 50 states, as well as from Arlington National Cemetery.

A Declaration of Devotion to America’s Deceased Defenders

From the sacred ground of more than 50,000 American heroes rises a flag unlike any other in history.

The Patriot Soil Flag, custom-crafted by Gettysburg Flag Works, is a one-of-a-kind American flag in which every star holds a clear vial of soil gathered from veterans’ cemeteries across all 50 states and reverently blended with soil from Arlington National Cemetery.

Each vial represents thousands of resting places. Each star becomes a guardian of sacrifice.

This is not a flag honoring celebrities or officials. It honors the men and women who served — and those who never came home.

The Patriot Soil Flag

Uniting every state with soil from over 50,000 veteran heroes — with a goal of over 1,000,000

The Patriot Soil Flag Project, an initiative of the Patriot Soil Project (patriotsoil.org), is a heartfelt, decade-long mission of remembrance, gratitude, and national unity. It honors those who bravely gave their lives in service by respectfully preserving a small sampling of soil from their final resting place.

Gary and Mary Robinson have journeyed across all 50 states, collecting soil from more than 50,000 veterans’ graves. Their vision is to expand that number to 1,000,000, creating a unified national memorial built through community partnership and veteran support. Since its 2014 launch, the project has gathered soil from more than 100 veterans’ cemeteries across the country, with additional contributions steadily added to each state’s vial — making the flag a powerful, expanding monument of remembrance.

Each sample is collected with reverence, serving as a symbol of our nation’s devotion and a declaration that Americans heroes will never be forgotten.

Sacred Soil of American Heroes

This hallowed collection contains sacred soil gathered from Arlington National Cemetery, one of the most revered military resting places in the United States, along with soil from the graves of America’s most notable heroes and countless unknown soldiers.

Among those represented are leaders and pioneers of American service — from Zachary Taylor, 12th President and Mexican–American War general; George Armstrong Custer, Civil War cavalry commander; Lyman Hall, signer of the Declaration of Independence; Francis Bellamy, author of the Pledge of Allegiance; Wild Bill Hickok, Civil War scout and lawman; and Kermit Roosevelt, who served in both World Wars — to countless others whose names history has not recorded.

This soil symbolizes the sacrifices of Americans from every major conflict in our nation’s history — from the Revolutionary War and War of 1812 to the Civil War, Spanish–American War, World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the ongoing Global War on Terror. It honors those awarded the nation’s highest military distinctions — recipients of the Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, Air Force Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart — as well as prisoners of war, Gold Star service members, and all who were killed in action.

The collection also reflects the diverse heritage of American service, including the Code Talkers whose languages helped secure victory in the World Wars, the Buffalo Soldiers whose valor shaped the nation’s frontier, Rangers, SEALs, Green Berets, Pararescue specialists, aviation units, submarine corps, and countless others who served courageously both in uniform and through public service, from governors and senators to everyday citizens.

From the decorated to the unknown — from those who survived to those killed in action — every act of service matters. Every life given for freedom is honored.

Following The Flag

The Patriot Soil Flag is set to travel across all 50 states, offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Americans to hold the flag and honor veterans. Participants may have a photograph taken with the flag, forever connecting them to the stories of those who served.

Visitors to the website will be able to explore each state’s soil contribution, view photos from each stop, and experience the flag’s historic journey.

Eventually, the Patriot Soil Flag will be presented to the President of the United States, with hopes of finding a permanent home in the Smithsonian Institution, preserving this unprecedented tribute for future generations.
